The Oriental Pearl

We were never intending to visit The Oriental Pearl at all, but seeing as it was a lot nearer than our planned restaurant and also that it was bloody freezing, we thought that we'd make do with Chinese food, which wasnt to our best taste, but preferable to a longer walk in Arctic conditions.
The Oriental Pearl in West Bridgford actually has the reputation of being the best Chinese in the Midlands, but that means nothing to accomplished critical pallates.
We had absolutely nothing to worry about though. The menu came, that looked full of the usual Chinese stuff, and we both settled for a stir-fried beef in saszewen sauce with a side of noodles to be safe.
To say that the meal was astounding is a vast understatement! We had never ever considered that a Chinese meal could be so satisfying - even so much in as we have even been discussing it today!
The service was impeccable, the cute soy sauce teapot things were pure class, and of course, the food was succulent to excess.
This was possibly the best meal that we have ever sampled since starting this section of the forum, and whilst it is certainly not the cheapest meal you will ever taste, it is certainy the one that you will be talking about for days afterwards.

Once again a visit to the Oriental Pearl, and once again only because our chosen destination was fully booked.
And once again an unbelievable meal in every respect - except for some decidedly basic service errors by the (presumably) Chinese student part-time McDonalds staff that were on that night.
We had one of the above beef in szechewan sauce dishes again, and also a lemon chicken dish for variety, and both were absolutely stunning.
We really will have to arrange to go to the Oriental Pearl as our first choice one day!
